Pressing Instructions

  1. Position Your Design. Position the transfer in the desired location and be careful not to press over large wrinkles. It's recommended to use heat-resistant tape when pressing on hats or when using a household iron to prevent the transfer from moving. You'll get the hang of when it's needed with experience.
  2. Press. For best results, press the transfer at 310°F / 155°C with medium to high pressure for around 13 seconds. It's advisable to conduct a test with one piece first. To protect your garment from direct contact with the iron, use parchment paper or a Protective Guard Sheet. Applying more heat, pressure, or time won't harm the transfer, but it may scorch the garment. If your settings are causing scorch marks, start by reducing the pressure. If that doesn't work, maintain the reduced pressure and lower the heat by 10-15°F. With some practice, you'll be able to determine the perfect settings for each garment and material.
  3. Let It Cool, Then Peel. After pressing, allow your transfer to cool until it is safe to touch, usually around 15-30 seconds. Slowly peel off the transfer to make sure that every part of your design sticks properly. This ensures that every piece of your design adheres perfectly to your item. If some parts of the design aren't sticking, lay it back down and press again with more pressure and heat (increase by 15°F). If that doesn't work, increase the heat in 15°F increments until it does. The great thing about Neptune Transfers is that repeated pressing won't damage the transfer.
  4. Final Press. After transferring the design onto the garment and peeling off the film, cover the design with the provided parchment paper or a single layer of t-shirt material. Press for approximately 15 seconds. This process enhances the value of your product by significantly improving durability and softness, while also reducing shine. For a glossy look, use a guard sheet for the second and final press instead.

Washing Instructions

For best results and longevity, wash the garment inside out in cold water and dry on low heat or hang to dry. While washing it with standard settings is fine, it will last longer with more delicate settings.
