What’s the difference between hot peel and cold peel DTF transfers?
Hot peel: The film is peeled off immediately after pressing while still hot. This method is faster and produces a slightly softer finish.
Cold peel: The film must cool completely before peeling. It usually provides a more matte finish and can be more forgiving on delicate fabrics.
Can DTF transfers be applied to any fabric?
Yes! DTF transfers are extremely versatile and can be applied to:
- Cotton
- Polyester
- Cotton/poly blends
- Nylon
- Canvas and more
They even adhere well to light or dark garments without the need for pretreatment.
How should I wash and care for DTF-printed garments?
- Wait at least 24 hours after pressing before washing.
- Wash inside out on a cold, gentle cycle.
- Avoid bleach, harsh detergents, and fabric softeners.
- Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry.
- Do not iron directly on the design.
Can DTF transfers be layered or combined with other printing methods?
Yes! DTF transfers can be layered with embroidery, vinyl, or screen prints for mixed-media designs. However, avoid stacking multiple DTF transfers directly on top of each other to prevent bulk and uneven adhesion.
Do DTF transfers work on stretch or performance fabrics?
Yes, DTF works on most stretch and performance materials (like spandex or Lycra). However, use slightly lower temperature and pressure and allow extra cooling time to avoid scorching delicate fabrics.
Can DTF transfers crack or peel over time?
Only if applied or washed incorrectly. Proper heat, pressure, and aftercare will keep your designs smooth and vibrant for dozens of washes. Always use the manufacturer’s recommended press settings for the best results.
